Honey Lox Extension Care Guide

Your Honey Lox extensions are made from premium 100% human hair. With proper care, they'll stay soft, beautiful, and long-lasting. Follow these simple guidelines to protect both your extensions and your natural hair.

Sleep Smart

Never go to bed with wet or even damp extensions. Moisture trapped in the hair can lead to tangling, matting, and unnecessary damage to both your extensions and your natural hair.

Before bed, gently brush your hair and secure it in a loose braid or low ponytail to help prevent tangles while you sleep.

Protect Your Color

Never bleach your extensions.

Be mindful of sunscreen, self-tanner, and products containing zinc or harsh sulfates. These ingredients can discolor extension hair, especially lighter blonde shades.

Keep Hair Hydrated

Apply a lightweight oil to the mid-lengths and ends of your extensions morning and night to help maintain softness and reduce dryness. We especially like lightweight argan oil formulas, such as MoroccanOil® Light.

Avoid applying oils directly to the attachment points or wefts.

Washing Your Extensions

Always use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

When shampooing, gently lift the hair to cleanse around the tops of the wefts and your scalp. Rinse thoroughly to remove all product buildup.

Apply conditioner from the roots through the ends of the extension hair, then rinse completely. Keeping the hair well-conditioned helps minimize tangling and keeps it looking healthy.

Choose Products Carefully

Professional-quality products designed for human hair are safe to use.

AVOID use of products with too much protein, such as K18® or Olaplex®. Too much protein can leave extension hair feeling dry, stiff, or brittle.

Use Styling Products in Moderation

Hairsprays, dry shampoos, and texture sprays can build up on the hair and cause it to feel dry over time.

Moderate use is perfectly fine—just be sure to replenish moisture regularly with conditioner and lightweight oil.

Brush Often

Brush your extensions several times throughout the day using an extension-safe brush or a Wet Brush®.

Always begin at the ends and slowly work your way up while supporting the hair with your hand to minimize pulling.

Don't forget to gently brush near the wefts to help prevent tangling.

Heat & Styling

If using hot tools, always apply a professional heat protectant before styling.

Excessive heat can shorten the lifespan of your extensions, so keep temperatures as low as practical.

Normal Wear Over Time

Just like your natural hair, extensions experience normal wear with everyday styling.

Over time you may notice:

Split ends and breakage

Dryness

Color fading, especially in darker shades exposed to frequent washing or sunlight

Regular trims, deep conditioning treatments, and occasional toning (when appropriate) can help keep your extensions looking their best.

Expected Lifespan

With proper maintenance, Honey Lox Genius Wefts typically last 6–12 months, depending on your daily care routine, styling habits, and maintenance appointments.

The better you care for your extensions, the longer they'll stay beautiful.
